Master of many things
If you are the one, who, after watching Bollywood’s ‘Dhoom’ series and Hollywood heist movies, is longing for one such film in Kollywood, here comes ‘Asuraguru’.
Starring Vikram Prabhu in the lead, the film directed by Rajdeep is a racy heist thriller that keeps the audience on the edge of their seats from beginning till end.
Sakthi (Vikram Prabhu), under the guise of a courier delivery staff, is actually a tech-savvy thief who robs huge money from smugglers, banks and those involved in fraudulent activities.
One day, when he steals freshly printed currency notes of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) from a moving train, it becomes a huge issue and a special officer Manickavasagam (Subbaraju) gets appointed to probe the case.
In the meantime, Sakthi also robs from a smuggler’s Jamaludeen’s (Nagineedu) son. But Jamaludeen, instead of filing a police complaint, approaches a detective agency.
The agency asks its smart detective Divya (Mahima Nambiar) to investigate the case. The rest is about whether Manicakavasam and Divya are able to catch Sakthi and why the protagonist is involved in the thefts.
Vikram Prabhu shines bright in each and every scene and this film takes him back to his glorious days of ‘Arimanambi’. Mahima Nambiar is apt choice for her role, so are others including Nagineedu, Yogibabu and Subbaraju.
Cinematography adds to the richness of the film, while editing is razor sharp. Music is another highlight. On the whole, ‘Asuraguru’ is a wholesome entertainer that serves a sharp and smart film to the audience.
