Suriya’s ‘Soorarai Pottru’ to speak in Kannada

Suriya’s upcoming film ‘Soorarai Pottru’ helmed by Sudha Kongara of ‘Irudhi Suttru’ fame is all set to be dubbed in Kannada as well.

According to sources, Suriya’s production house 2D Entertainment which is bankrolling the movie has decided to dub the film in Kannada following requests from fans of Suriya from Karnataka.

Besides the Tamil and Kannada versions, the film will also be dubbed in Telugu. While there were widespread speculations that ‘Soorarai Pottru’ is based on the life of Air Deccan founder GR Gopinath and even the recently released teaser of the flick supported the claim, the movie’s director Sudha Kongara has however denied it.

Speaking to Vikatan, Sudha said that she was supposed to do ‘Soorarai Pottru’ as her second film but due to the budget constraints, she narrated it to Suriya only after the success of her ‘Irudhi Suttru’ starring Madhavan.

“With Suriya, you don’t have to explain his various looks in the film. All we have to do is to narrate him the story, he would come with the desired look on his own”, the filmmaker said.

Sudha added that the film is not a biopic of GR Gopinath. “Yes, all the incidents in the film happened in Gopinath sir’s life but one can’t call it as a biopic”, she said and appreciated Suriya for spending lavishly for the quality of the film.
