Arvind Swami, who is playing the role of former Chief Minister M G Ramachandran (MGR) in Jayalalithaa’s biopic ‘Thalaivi’ directed by Vijay, has completely transformed himself for the character, says the filmmaker.
To mark the birth anniversary of MGR today, the first look of Arvind Swami from the movie has been released. Says Vijay, “Arvind Swami has transformed himself completely to fit into the role. He started prepping for this role some three months before we actually began shooting.”
Kangana Ranaut, who hails from Bollywood, is popular in Kollywood as well. She played the female lead in ‘Dhaam Dhoom’ and is currently doing the lead role in ‘Thalaivi’.
There was a buzz that National award winning actress Priya Mani will essay the role of VK Sasikala, late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s close aide in ‘Thalaivi’.
“Producer Vishnu Induri is making the film in three languages (Telugu, Tamil and Hindi), so he needed an actress with a pan-Indian appeal. Priyamani fits the bill perfectly. Moreover, the director is confident that the actress will bring in her own style to the part,” a source was quoted as saying.
