The latest buzz in Tollywood is that Anushka Shetty was approached to play the female lead in the Telugu remake of Tamil recent hit ‘Asuran’, but she politely turned out the offer due to unknown reasons.
Following this, Shriya Saran has been reportedly roped in for the role. While Dhanush and Manju Warrier played the lead roles in the Tamil version, Venkatesh is replacing Dhanush in the Telugu remake.
The film, which is yet to be titled, will be directed by Srikanth Addal and it is learnt that pre-production work has started already. It is to be noted that Anushka is currently awaiting the release of her upcoming suspense-thriller ‘Nishabdham’, in which she has shared the screen space with Madhavan and Anjali.
‘Asuran’ will be remade in Telugu by Venkatesh’s home banner, Suresh Productions, in association with Kalaipuli S Thanu, who bankrolled the Tamil original. The shoot of the Telugu remake of ‘Asuran’ would commence soon and an official announcement on the movie’s cast and crew, including the name of the director, would be made soon.
