Following a letter from Andhra Pradesh Women’s Commission, the Tamil Nadu Women’s Commission is expected to take action against actor-filmmaker K Bhagyaraj for his recent comments on women.
In a letter to her Tamil Nadu counterpart, AP Women’s Commission Chairperson Vasireddy Padma wanted necessary action against Bhagyaraj for his remarks which allegedly showed women in poor light.
Speaking at the audio launch of ‘Karuthukalai Pathivu Sei’, Bhagyaraj said that if a man has a ‘chinna veedu’ (extramarital affair) then the man is devoted to the other woma and will not disturb his wife. He will take good care of both women.
“By contrast, however, if a woman has a ‘kalla kadhalan’ (paramour), then we will see instances in the news of these women killing their husbands and children. That is precisely why women should stay within limits,” he added.
He also said that boys are not the only ones responsible for rapes and girls also have a weakness. Referring to the Pollachi sexual crimes, he said that women create a situation that allows mistakes to happen.
Urging women should self-regulate themselves, the actor-filmmaker also spoke about how women were earlier restricted but now women are whispering into their cell phones all the time.
