Bala Singh is no more

Popular Tamil actor Bala Singh passed away at a private hospital in Chennai today. He was 67. His death has been mourned by many film and drama personalities.

He was admitted to Vijaya Hospital by his family members for food poison and was undergoing treatment there. He died at 01:00 AM today.

His body will be kept for homage at his residence in Virgambakkam till today evening. It will then be taken to his hometown Nagarkoil for last rites.

Bala Singh who trained at the National School of Drama (NSD) began his acting career as a theatre artist. While he entered Malayalam cinema in 1983, it was his role in the 1995 Tamil film ‘Avatharam’ starring Nasser and Revathi in the lead, which gained him popularity.

In his career, Bala has worked with Shankar, Mani Ratnam, and Kamal Haasan. He has also been a part of Tamil TV shows including ‘Soolam’, ‘Rudhraveenai’, ‘Nalla Neram’, and ‘Aathira’. Some of his noted films are ‘Indian’ and ‘Pudupettai’. He was last seen in Arya-starrer ‘Magamuni’.
