Actor-filmmaker and Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) founder Kamal Haasan underwent a surgical procedure in Chennai today for the removal of an implant placed in his leg after he suffered a fracture in 2016.
His fans and party members have been wishing him good health and speedy recovery, while a few of them conducted prayers for Kamal. In a statement, MNM vice-president Dr R Mahendran said, “Due to his busy schedule in politics and film commitments, there has been a postponement of the procedure for removal of the implant.”
He added: “However, now upon his doctor’s advice Kamal Haasan will be getting admitted in hospital for the surgical procedure on November 22 to remove the implant. Furthermore, he has been compelled to take a break for the next few weeks to physically recoup.”
Meanwhile, the ruling AIADMK has come down heavily on Kamal for his plan to forge an alliance with superstar Rajinikanth in politics. In an article in ‘Namathu Amma’, the party said Rajinikanth and Haasan joining forces would be like “a cat and mouse living together”.
Stating that Kamal has lost to Rajinikanth in the film industry and he was apprehensive now about it being repeated in politics too, it added: “Time will teach Rajini that a possible partnership with Haasan politically will not be fruitful.”
