“Edappadi Palaniswami becoming CM is a miracle”: Rajinikanth
Days after Chief Minister Edappadi K Palanniswami reacted sharply to the ‘political vacuum’ remarks made by Rajinikanth, the Superstar said on Sunday night that EPS becoming the CM of Tamil Nadu was a miracle.
Speaking at a concert by maestro Ilayaraja to mark the birthday of Makkal Needhi Maiam founder-president Kamal Haasan, Rajinikanth said, “When EPS became the CM, many said the government would not continue for even four-five months. But it is continuing.”
He added: “So, miracles happened yesterday, they are happening today, and they will happen tomorrow too.” Rajinikanth was apparently referring to his entry into politics, which is expected to happen next year.
Last week, Palaniswami said, “How can one conclude on the remarks of a person who is unrelated to politics?” when his attention was drawn to the issue of vacuum as claimed by Rajnikanth.
The CM further said that media was publicising these remarks to create sensation. However, Kamal, former Union Ministers Pon Radhakrishnan and M K Alagiri supported Rajinikanth’s comments that there is political vacuum in Tamil Nadu.
“Yes, there is a vacuum. There is no doubt about that. It is because two of the tallest leaders of the State — Jayalalithaa and Karunanidhi — are not alive. They were very big leaders who had the support of the people,” Radhakrishnan said.
