Major replacement in Mani Ratnam’s ‘Ponniyin Selvan’

After Sathyaraj opted out of Mani Ratnam’s magnum opus ‘Ponniyin Selvan’, he has been replaced by Prabhu by the ace director. It is said that Sathyaraj had expressed his inability to be part of the project in a polite manner to Mani Ratnam. But, the reason behind his decision is not know.

The film, to be jointly produced by Lyca and Madras Talkies, boasts an ensemble of actors including ‘Jayam’ Ravi, Vikram, Karthi, Aishwarya Rai, Trisha, Keerthy Suresh, Aishwarya Lekshmi, Mohan Babu, and Aadhi.

After ‘Iruvar’, ‘Guru’ and ‘Raavanan’, Mani Ratnam has once again roped in Aishwarya Rai for ‘Ponniyin Selvan’. Speaking at a recent event in Chennai, Aishwarya said, “It’s an honour to work with him again. Yes I’m doing the film but it will be unfair to divulge any other details as he would be officially announcing it soon.”

Oscar-Grammy winner AR Rahman will be composing the music for the film and Ravi Varman is likely to wield the camera. Though there is no official confirmation, sources say Aishwarya will be seen essaying the well-known Nandhini and her mute mother, the queen Mandakini Devi.
