‘With a few caste outfits opposing Dhanush’s recent venture ‘Asuran’ directed by Vetrimaaran and some members going to the extent of asking their community people to boycott the film, support too is pouring in for the movie. The film is based on writer Poomani’s novel ‘Vekkai’.
It is to be noted that a particular dialogue from the film was removed after actor and MLA Karunas of Mukkulathor Puli Padai requested Vetrimaaran to delete it. Interestingly, Karunas’ son Ken has played a key role in ‘Asuran’.
Expressing his support to ‘Asuran’, veteran director Bharathiraja, said, “Now, Vetrimaaran has removed the particular line so everyone should stop opposing the film. The film’s motto is not to divide Tamil people but to unify them. If you watch Asuran, I’m sure you will recommend others to watch the film.”
Bharathiraja, who was last seen playing a pivotal character in Sivakarthikeya’s ‘Namma Veetu Pillai’, added: “Vetrimaaran is a filmmaker who makes films without sentiments like caste, race, and language.” Meanwhile, ‘Asuran’ has registered the best opening for a Dhanush film, in recent times. Members of Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and other Dalit outfits have expressed support to the movie.
