Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut, who is playing the lead role in the biopic of late Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa directed by Vijay, has insisted to retain the title ‘Thalaivi’ for the movie’s Telugu and Hindi versions too.
While the makers of the movie wanted to name its Telugu and Hindi versions ‘Jaya’, Kangana, according to reports, has told them that when the title of Hollywood films remains unchanged in India, the meaning of the word ‘Thalaivi’ will also be understood by people across the country.
Vijay had recently said, “We have locked the final draft, and are now working on finalising the cast and technicians. While Vijayendra Prasad sir came on board a few months ago, we have roped in cinematographer Nirav Shah, GV Prakash and Selva master as well. The film will sketch the life of one of the most wonderful leaders, and so, we are making it a Tamil-Hindi bilingual.”
Meanwhile, director Gautham Vasudev Menon has made a web series on Jayalalithaa. Titled ‘Queen’, the project features Ramya Krishnan in the lead role.
According to sources, shoot for the series was wrapped up recently and it will be aired soon on MX Player. It is said the film would explore some untold details about Jayalalithaa.
