After 48 days, Lord Athi Varadar has been placed inside the Anantha Saras holy tank at Sri Varadarajaswamy temple in Kanchipuram again. Here we present you authentic and rare picture of the Lord inside the tank.
More than one crore devotees offered prayers to the deity during the festival. President Ram Nath Kovind, Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, former Prime Minister Deve Gowda, former Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, Telangana Chief Minister Chandrasekara Rao, actor Rajinikanth, actresses Trisha and Nayanthara were among those who offered their prayers to the idol during the festival.
Before Athi Varadar was taken to the tank on a grand procession, a neivedhya of milk, ksheeranna and butter and betel leaves, nuts and fruits were offered to the idol and the last aarathi performed by priests. He was then placed amid Nagabashanams.
Following this, the sanctum sanctorum of Sri Devarajaswamy was opened on Sunday for the public after a long gap. During the last few days, the crowd was so much so that schools and colleges in the district were given holidays since students were unable to reach the institutions amidst the throng.
With people from across the country and even from the abroad flocking to the temple town of Kanchipuram for the darshan of Athi Varadar, the district administration, the police department and temple management left no stone unturned to ensure hassle-free darshan for devotees.
