Superstar Rajinikanth praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah as Lord Krishna and Arjuna has triggered a debate in political circles, with critics saying Rajini is moving close towards the BJP.
Sources close to the superstar however said this has got nothing to do with politics and his remarks were out of his admiration and happiness due to Modi-Shah’s recent bold move to scrap special status to Jammu & Kashmir.
“In the past, he had openly praised Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi, Stalin, Anbumani and even Seeman. Did he join their parties?” ask those close to Rajinikanth.
Modi and Amit Shah are like Lord Krishna and Arjuna, said Rajinikanth in Chennai on Sunday.
Congratulating Shah on his ‘Mission Kashmir’ (revocation of Article 370 which conferred special status on Jammu and Kashmir), Rajinikanth termed it as a ‘fantastic’ move.
The actor said: “We don’t know who is Krishna and who is Arjuna. It is only they know (Modi and Shah).”
Rajinikanth was speaking at a function organised to release the book titled “Listening, Learning and Leading” which chronicles two years in office of Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu.
He praised Naidu as a complete spiritual person who is interested in the welfare of people. Last week, the Centre ended the special status of Jammu and Kashmir through a Presidential order and announced that the state would be split it into two union territories — Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir.
The bills were passed within days with the help of several opposition parties and non-aligned parties like Naveen Patnaik’s Biju Janata Dal and the Telangana Rashtra Samithi.
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami
and Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Sunday showered encomiums on Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu and his leadership qualities as the
Chairman of Rajya Sabha.
Speaking at a function where Union Home Minister Amit Shah released a book, a compilation of Mr Naidu’s two years in office, Palaniswami
said during 2014 Venkiah Naidu worked as the Union Minister for Urban Development, Parliament Affairs, Information and Broadcasting, in the Government headed by Narendra Modi.
