A1: Accused No.1
Though Santhanam had been trying his best to establish himself as hero in Kollywood, success has been playing hide and seek with him. Without losing heart, the comedian-turned-protagonist has come up with ‘A1: Accused No.1’.
The film, directed by Johnson, doesn’t care at all about logic and being relevant. Its only aim seems to be tickling the funny bone of the audience and the mission has been almost achieved.
Divya (Tara Alisha Berry) is a Brahmin girl who hails from an orthodox family. Her aim is to marry a tough and fearless guy, but she is particular that he should be a Brahmin.
She comes across Saravanan aka Saro (Santhanam) and falls for him. But, soon, she calls off the relationship after she comes to know that he is from a different caste.
However, love blossoms when Saravanan saves Divya’s father (Yatin Karyekar) after he suffers from a cardiac arrest. But her father rejects the proposal of Saravanan and his parents (M S Baskar and Meera Krishnan).
Divya now poses a challenge to Saravanan- to find out at least one bad quality in her father. She also promises that if Saravanan succeeds in his mission, she would accept him.
The rest is all about how Saravanan and his gang handle the challenge and emerge victorious.
Santhanam’s funny liners are terrific and he is being aptly assisted by MS Bhaskar, Thangadurai, Manohar and Saikumar. Tara Alisha Berry and Meera Krishnan do justice to their roles.
Santhosh Narayanan’s music is average, but editor Leo John Paul’s work is really laudable, for he has made the film crisp and comical at just 1.50 hours. If you don’t mind logic, ‘A1: Accused No.1’ may be your destination this weekend.
