Suriya is in the news after his speech on the Central government’s draft National Educational Policy at a recent event. Even as politicians from the BJP and AIADMK slammed him, he found support from the likes of Kamal Haasan and Pa Ranjith among others.
In the meantime, arrangements are being made on a grand swing for the audio launch of his upcoming film ‘Kaappaan’ directed by K V Anand. The high profile event, slated to be held in Chennai on Sunday, will see the presence of superstar Rajinikanth and director Shankar.
Supporting Suriya, Kamal posted: “I agree with many of the points Suriya raises and he has my support. I condemn the autocratic attitude of the Centre and the State.”
In his speech, the ‘Singam’ and ‘7aum Arivu’ actor had said, “The policy has not reached people yet. Most students and parents are not aware of the draft. The draft suggests entrance exams from third standard itself.”
He added: “How is it fair to conduct a common entrance examination without providing equal education to everyone? This is a matter concerning the lives of 30 crore students. So, this can change only if parents and teachers take initiatives to ensure the right education for their children. Everyone should have their say on the draft and voice out their opinion.”
