Kamal talks about ‘imposing’ Hindi, AIADMK not getting berth in Union Cabinet

Actor-filmmaker and Makkal Needhi Maiam founder Kamal Haasan has said Hindi should not be imposed on anyone. This was his response to a Central government proposal to introduce a three-language system in schools.

Speaking to the media, he said, “I have acted in many Hindi films, in my opinion Hindi language should not be imposed on anyone. Languages should be learnt by people on their own.”

Other parties like DMK and AMMK too have opposed the move. Kamal also said, “It is disappointing that AIADMK has not been given a Cabinet berth (in the new Union government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi).”

“When Chief Minister and senior leaders of the AIADMK were hoping that their representative would be accommodated in Cabinet, it is sad that they were not considered,” he added.

Stating that “we want Tamil Nadu’s voice to be heard in Centre,” he said, “However State Minister Ma Foi Pandirajan’s observation that in next Cabinet expansion AIADMK would get Ministerial berth was like a poll promise.”
