Tamil films either getting remade or dubbed in Telugu and vice versa is a regular happening in south Indian cinema. Even now, a bunch of Telugu flicks are being remade in Tamil. Let’s have a look at them.
‘Ayogya’ is an action film directed by debutant Venkat Mohan. The film starring Vishal in the lead is produced by B Madhu and distributed by Light House Movie Makers.
The film is an official remake of Telugu film ‘Temper’ (2015) starring Jr NTR, Kajal Aggarwal and Prakash Raj. The film stars Vishal and Raashi Khanna in the lead roles with R Parthiban, K S Ravikumar, Sachu, Vamsi Krishna and Pooja Devariya portraying supporting roles.
The film’s soundtrack was composed by Sam C.S. Cinematography and editing were handled by VI Karthik and Ruben respectively. Talking about ‘Ayogya’, Vishal, who plays a police officer, says, “In the film, I have portrayed all my anger on the evil things that are happening in the society.”
Vijay’s next project (after his current film directed by Atlee) is said to be the remake of Mahesh Babu’s ‘Maharshi’. It is an action drama film, directed by Vamsi Paidipally and jointly produced by Dil Raju, C Ashwini Dutt, and Prasad V Potluri through their production companies Sri Venkateswara Creations, Vyjayanthi Movies, and PVP Cinema.
The film stars Mahesh Babu, Allari Naresh and Pooja Hegde in key roles. The music was composed by Devi Sri Prasad. Lyrics were written by Sri Mani. Music released on Aditya Music company.
The movie’s story is about Rishi, a millionaire businessman, who returns to his homeland, where he becomes the champion of poor and downtrodden farmers.
Rishi does not want to rest on his laurels: “I want to rule the world,” he says when someone asks him what he wants to achieve.”
Vijay had earlier acted in the Tamil remakes of Mahesh Babu’s ‘Okkadu’ and ‘Pokkiri’, which were titled ‘Ghilli’ and ‘Pokkiri’ in Tamil.
‘Adithya Varma’ is directed by Gireesaaya (in his directorial debut) and produced by Mukesh Mehta under E4 Entertainment. The film stars newcomer Dhruv Vikram and Banita Sandhu in the lead roles while Priya Anand appears in a supporting role.
It is a remake of the Telugu film ‘Arjun Reddy’ (2017). The film was originally directed by Bala under the title ‘Varma’ and shot between March and September 2018; however, in February 2019, due to creative differences with Bala, E4 Entertainment decided to re-launch it with a new cast and crew; only Dhruv and music director Radhan were retained.
The new version, titled ‘Adithya Varma’, began filming in March 2019 and is scheduled to be released later this year. On 7 February 2019, E4 Entertainment issued a press statement stating that they would go for a complete re-shoot of film as they were not satisfied with the final cut.
They added that the film would be relaunched with a completely new cast and crew while retaining Dhruv. Bala decried these comments, calling them “false” and that it was his own decision to quit the film “in order to safeguard creative freedom”.
