In a shock to the fans of Ravi Teja, an upcoming film of him has been dropped by its producers. It is a remake of Tamil hit movie ‘Theri’ which featured Vijay in the lead role.
According to reports, Mythri Movie Makers has decided to drop the project as it felt that such movies won’t work in today’s scenario.
It acquired the remake rights of ‘Theri’ three years ago and initially planned to do it with Pawan Kalyan. However, after he became busy in politics, Mythri Movie Makers decided to go ahead with Ravi Teja.
Meanwhile, it has emerged that Ravi Teja will work with the same production house for some other script. ‘Theri’ is a 2016 action drama film written and directed by Atlee and produced by Kalaipuli S Thanu. The film featuredVijay and Samantha Ruth Prabhu in the lead roles, while Amy Jackson, Mahendran, Prabhu and Raadhika amongst others formed an ensemble cast.
Featuring music composed by G V Prakash Kumar, the film had cinematography handled by George C Williams. The story goes like this: Vijay Kumar (Vijay) is an honest and sincere DCP of Chennai. He takes up a case involving the rape and subsequent death of an IT employee Raji.
He finds out that the rapist is Ashwin, the son of Labour Minister Vanamaamalai (J Mahendran). Vijay kills Ashwin and reveals himself as the murderer to Vanamaamalai, who swears to take revenge on him for killing his son.
