‘Oru Kadhai Sollatuma’
We all know Resul Pookutty, who made India proud by winning an Oscar award for sound designing. He has donned the greasepaint in ‘Oru Kadhai Sollatuma’, a film which is about himself.
Resul Pookutty plays himself in the movie and the story is about his passion and attempts to record the live sounds of Thrissur Pooram in Kerala and the challenges he faces while doing it.
Though we are unable to stomach the insults Resul faces from the businessman who bankrolls the project, given the fact that he is an Oscar winner, the film has tried to live up to reality. And Resul has performed well.
Kudos to director Prasad Prabhakar for bringing out the best work from the cast and the crew of the movie. After a four-month long pre-production, over 80 technicians from Hollywood and India worked on capturing the sounds of the Pooram festival featuring 300 artists and crowd, live. Their efforts have paid results.
Though we can’t avoid getting a documentary feel, the film can be watched without much regrets, for it narrates the story of a sound designer who strives hard to realise his dream of recording all the sounds of the Thrissur Pooram.
