Perhaps for the first time, director Vetrimaaran has broken his silence on his upcoming film ‘Asuran’, which has Dhanush in the lead role. The two have come together for the fourth time, after ‘Polladhavan’, ‘Aadukalam’ and the recent ‘Vada Chennai’.
In an interview, Vetrimaaran has said Dhanush will be seen playing two roles — that of a father and son. The film is reportedly set in two time periods — the 1960s and 1980s — and the actor will be playing a man in his mid-40s in one of the portions.
The film is based on the novel called Vekkai, written by Poomani. Director Balaji Shakthi is making his debut as an actor with the film. He is reportedly the villain of the movie.
Produced by Thanu’s V Creations, GV Prakash Kumar is composing music for Asuran and Velraj is cranking the camera. Meanwhile, Vetrimaaran has also said that he will soon begin shooting for the sequel of ‘Vada Chennai’ and the pre-production work is on.
Manju Warrier and Pasupathy play key roles in ‘Asuran’, shooting of which is progressing in brisk pace.
