‘Varma’, the Tamil remake of Tollywood super hit ‘Arjun Reddy’, was shelved by its producers recently after they were disappointed with the end-product delivered by director Bala.
They also said they would completely reshoot the film, which marks the debut of actor Vikram’s son Dhruv Vikram. Now the latest update is that Ravi K Chandran has been roped in as the cinematographer of the project.
Confirming the development, Ravi posted: “Not only For my dear friends #Kenny and @e4echennai but for young & super talented #DhruvVikram .. incidentally my son @dop_santha currently shooting #KabirSingh the Hindi remake of #ArjunReddy.._/\_”
It is to be noted that Ravi’s son Santhana Krishna is currently working as the cinematographer for the Hindi remake of ‘Arjun Reddy’, titled ‘Kabir Singh’.
‘Varma’, produced by E4 Entertainment stars Banita Sandhu in a key role. In a press release earlier, E4 said, “We at E4 Entertainment are not at all happy with the final version handed over to us and due to various creative and other differences, we have decided not to release this version.
Instead we will start afresh, and shoot a new Tamil version of ‘Arjun Reddy’ with Dhruv as the main lead by staying true to the soul and intention of the original.”
They added: “Despite this unfortunate turn of events which has cost us heavily, our love for wanting to see this cult film in Tamil has not diminished in any way. We will therefore work tirelessly as a new united team towards a June 2019 release.”
