Interesting details were shared by Udhayanidhi Stalin and director Seenu Ramasamy at a press meet in connection with their upcoming film ‘Kanne Kalaimane’ in Chennai.
Udhayanidhi said the movie’s heroine Tamannaah was not ready to believe that he was playing the hero. “Seenu Ramasamy had told Tamannaah that the project has a female-oriented story, but did not inform him about me,” he said.
He added: “Tamannaah thought that I’m only producing the film. She asked me if I am essaying one of the lead roles. When I said ‘yes’, she asked me how I could agree as her character has equal or more scope than my character.”
Seenu Ramasamy said, “Despite delivering a commercial hit ‘Dharmadurai’, everyone in the industry only saw me as Sappani. Only one person called me as Gopal (Kamal’s real name in ’16 Vayadhinile’), he was Vijay Sethupathi who asked me direct Maamanithan. But due to call sheet issues, the project got delayed and in the meantime, Udhayanidhi called me to know whether I have a script for him”.
Hailing Udhayanidhi, he said, “Udhayanidhi has the capability of perfectly emoting in intense sequences without the help of glycerin. If he does ten more films like Kanne Kalaimaane, no one can replace him in the industry.”
For his part, Udhayanidhi heaped praises on both Seenu and Tamannah and said, “Whenever I tried talking to her in English, she surprised me with her flawless Tamil. Her role in the movie, Bharathi, has been portrayed well by Seenu sir without any make-up. It was nice working with him. Seenu sir and I have decided to join hands again irrespective of this film’s performance in the box-office.”
