Is Vijay Sethupathi’s ‘Thuglak’ a political satire?

Vijay Sethupathi, known for doing multiple projects simultaneously, has announced his next project. He has said it has been titled ‘Thuglak’ and will be helmed by debutant Delhi Prasad.

According to Vijay Sethupathi, Lalith Kumar, who was the distributor for ’96’, will be bankrolling this film. Sources say since Lalith helped a lot during the release of ’96’, Vijay Sethupathi is doing this film for him.
It is also said that the movie will be a political satire, as the title suggests. Govind Vasantha of ’96’ fame has been roped in to compose music for the film, while the rest of the members of the cast and the crew are yet to be finalised.

Recently, comments made by Vijay Sethupathi over the Sabarimala row did not go down well with his fans and general public. In a recent media interaction in Kerala, the actor backed the stand of Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in the Sabarimala issue, and added that he is a fan of the communist leader.

“The Chief Minister is right on the Sabarimala issue. I don’t understand why there is so much ruckus about it. Women have to bear certain pain every month,” he was quoted as saying.
“We all know why it happens it is a holy thing thanks to which we are here… if there’s no menstruation, there won’t be any men. Hence women are equivalent to Gods,” he added.
