Both superstar Rajinikanth’s ‘Petta’ and Ajith’s ‘Viswasam’ hit the screens simultaneously on Thursday (January 10), leaving the fans in a state of frenzy.
There was a mild clash between Rajini and Ajith fans at Koyambedu Rohini theatre, after a banner of ‘Petta’ was damaged. In other parts of the state, Ajith fans sustained injuries after a cutout fell on them in Thirukovilur, a fan stabbed another in a theatre, and a youth set his father on fire for refusing to give money to buy ‘Viswasam’ ticket.
The films opened to packed houses and celebrations across Tamil Nadu and other parts of the world. Special shows started as early as 1 am with fans performing milk abhishekam, bursting crackers and dancing to drum beats.
And, both films got positive reviews as well. As far as collections are concerned, ‘Petta’ has emerged a clear winner in Chennai, while ‘Viswasam’ is running successfully in B and C centres as it managed to got more number of theatres since they were booked well in advance. Overall, both movies have emerged blockbusters.
