Bhavana to replace Trisha in ’96’ Kannada remake

’96’, inarguably the biggest romantic film of Kollywood in 2018, is being remade in Kannada. While Bhavana will play the Janu character made memorable by Trisha, Ganesh will play the hero role played by Vijay Sethupathi.

Preetham Gubbi is the director of the Kannada version of ’96’. Speaking about the development, Bhavana told a Malayalam magazine that though she is not too keen about acting in remakes, 96 was a fabulous film, which made her accept it.

Bhavana, who is popular in Kollywood, Mollywood, Tollywood and Sandalwood, married Kannada producer Naveen earlier this year, it is learnt.

’96’ is a situational love-story about a travel-photographer, Ramachandran, who gets nostalgic on rewinding the memories of his childhood sweetheart, Janaki Devi, during a reunion ceremony with his school classmates.
The film was written and directed by C Prem Kumar and produced by S Nanthagopal for Madras Enterprises. The music for the film was composed by Govind Vasantha.
