Vijay’s party with Keerthy Suresh, Varalakshmi
Now that all the issues surrounding ‘Sarkar’ have been settled and the film running successfully in theatres across Tamil Nadu, key members of the team have celebrated it.
According to sources, Vijay, director A R Murugadoss, heroines Keerthy Suresh and Varalakshmi Sarathkumar and lyricist Vivek Velmurugan among others attended a party and celebrated the movie’s success.
Problems surrounding ‘Sarkar’ were amicably resolved after controversial scenes were cut. Also, Murugadoss, who feared arrest, got a relief on Friday, after the Madras High Court restrained police from arresting him till November 27 on complaints related to some scenes opposed by the ruling AIADMK in the state.
The order was passed by Justice GK Ilanthiraiyan on the anticipatory bail petition filed by Murugadoss. It is to be noted that AIADMK workers staged protests against the film after ministers took exception to scenes in the film criticising welfare schemes and a reference to late chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
Following this, the makers came forward to remove few scenes. The name Komalavalli has been muted in the film. A scene which has people throwing freebies in fire has been deleted.
At a time when the row surrounding ‘Sarkar’ appeared to have ended, its team courted a fresh controversy on Monday, after pictures of a cake-cut went viral on the social media.
The occasion was the ‘success party’ of ‘Sarkar’ and the one who had cut the cake was Vijay, the film’s protagonist. And the icing on the cake was the inclusion of topical mixer-grinder, pictures.
It is to be noted that AIADMK workers staged protests against the movie over scenes of mixer-grinder being burnt, seen as an affront to the late J Jayalalithaa, who had launched the scheme in 2011 in lines with her poll promise. Following widespread protests, the scenes were removed.
Posting about the success party, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar tweeted: “The night that was..thank you for the overwhelming response for #sarkar #komalavalli..wooohooo it’s a true #blockbuster in every single way against all odds.. the truth did prevail..whattte night…@arrahman @ARMurugadoss @actorvijay @Lyricist_Vivek @KeerthyOfficial @sunpictures.”
AR Rahman posted the success celebration photos on Instagram and asked fans to guess whose hand lights the candle in the pic. The bracelet with cross symbol on the hand belongs to Vijay and the ardent fans guessed it right.
