While top guns of Kollywood like Kamal Haasan and Suriya had already ventured into television, a bunch of new-gen stars too are now stepping into the small screen. Mykollywood.com tracks the trend.
For the first time, Vishal is hosting a television reality show on Sun TV and it is being aired on Sundays. Titled Naam Oruvar, its teaser had Vishal saying: “Vidhaichavan Thoongalam, Vidhaigal thoongadhu. Anbai Vidhaipoma?”.
The show, which has Vishal interacting with celebrity guests, aims to help those in need for money. The celebrities do some work, earn money and contribute it to beneficiaries.
In the recent episode, a class eight girl who was unable to continue her studies due to the ill-health of her father was given money and an assurance that her studies will completely be sponsored. Suri was the celebrity guest of the show.
‘Soppana Sundari’ is a reality show on Sun Life to crown Tamil Nadu’s top model. Hosted by actor Prasanna, the reality show will select the winner after various rounds of competitions for the participants.
Sun Life, which was known for airing old movies and classical songs, was recently re-launched by Sun TV group and the main audience now are the youth.
A string of programmes targeting the youngsters were launched and Soppana Sundari was the main among them. Prasanna is hosting the show in a cool and suave manner.
Shruti Haasan will soon be seen hosting a show titled ‘Hello Sago’ on Sun TV. Promos of the show suggest that it will be on the lines of ‘Coffee with DD’ where celebrity guests and those close to Shruti will interact with her and share interesting things.
Shruti Haasan, before donning the greasepaint, had always evinced interest in music. Recently, she called on music maestro A R Rahman at his Los Angeles studio in the United States.
It may be recalled that she debuted in the film industry as music composer for ‘Unnaipol Oruvan’, which released in 2009. Directed by Chakri Toleti, the film starred her legendary father Kamal Haasan in the lead role.
