“The special thing about ‘Sarkar’ is that ‘Mersal’ had a bit of politics while the politics shown in ‘Sarkar’ will be mersal.” These words uttered by Vijay at the audio launch of ‘Sarkar’ have proved true media reports which claimed that the A R Murugadoss-directed film would be a political thriller.
Besides ‘Sarkar’, a bunch of films with political themes are currently being made in Tamil cinema industry, including ‘NOTA’, this weekend’s release. Mykollywood.com gives you a sneak peek of them.
The film is directed by Anand Shankar, made in both Tamil and Telugu languages. It stars Vijay Deverakonda, making his debut in Tamil cinema and Mehreen Pirzada, in the lead roles.
Produced by Studio Green, this film has musical score by Sam C S, while Ravi K Chandran’s son, Santhana Krishnan Ravichandran handles the cinematography.
Speaking to the media recently, Vijay Deverakonda said, “I stand in front of you with a job well done. I have witnessed some mad performances from my co-actors Sathyaraj sir, Nassar sir, MS Baskar. It’s an honour to work with all these gentlemen.”
He added: “The time is now and I made my strike, not to win the world but to conquer the hearts of Tamil people. I don’t know whether you will enjoy the film but you will experience a superb political thriller. Enough said, it’s time to meet you all in theaters at Tamil Nadu, Telugu states, Kerala, Karnataka and rest of the world on 5 October.”
‘Sarkar’ has Vijay, Keerthy Suresh, Varalakshmi Sarathkumar, Yogi Babu and Radha Ravi in lead roles. The film is directed by A R Murugadoss, co-written by B Jeyamohan with music composed by A R Rahman.
The film which has cinematography by Girish Gangadharan is edited by A Sreekar Prasad and produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner.
In this movie, Vijay is said to be playing the chief executive officer (CEO) of a top tech company, who later ventures into politics and creates a change in Tamil Nadu political system. On Tuesday, at the audio launch event, Vijay denied reports which claimed that he is playing the Chief Minister in this flick.
‘NGK’ is written and directed by Selvaraghavan, and marks his first time collaborating with Suriya, Jagapathi Babu and Rakul Preet Singh. Yuvan Shankar Raja is the music composer.
The film is produced by S R Prakashbabu and S R Prabhu of Dream Warrior Pictures. It features Suriya, Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi in the lead roles.
The posters of the movie showed Suriya in revolutionary poses surrounded by people and the movie is tipped to be a political thriller loaded with twists and turns.
With Kamal Haasan starting his own party Makkal Needhi Maiam earlier this year, his ‘Indian 2’ directed by Shankar is tipped to be a politically loaded movie.
Just like its predecessor ‘Indian’, the movie, it is said, will take a dig at corrupt politicians and government officials, sources say.
Shooting for the movie is expected to commence soon and it will be shot in India, Taiwan and other locations. Music will be scored by A R Rahman and it is said ‘Indian 2’ will simultaneously be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi.
