Vijay, who was pained by the plight of people affected by the violence and firing in Thoothukudi during the recent protest against Sterlite Copper, has called on them.
“Vijay wanted to meet them soon after the incident. But due to the prohibitory orders and the visits of high profile persons, he waited for more than a week,” sources said.
They added that the injured persons and family members of victims broke down after seeing Vijay. “The actor was moved and he consoled them. He was in loss of words,” sources said further.
It may be recalled that 13 persons were killed in the police firing, after violence broke out during the agitation against Sterlite. Subsequently, the Tamil Nadu government ordered the shut down of the controversial plan, which faced allegations of immensely polluting the locality.
