Close on the heels of veteran director Bharathiraja coming out with a statement against ‘Iruttu Araiyil Murattu Kuthu’, PMK founder S Ramadoss has called for a ban on the adult-comedy movie.
In a statement, he said, “Films, considered to be a powerful medium to reach out to people, should be made to create awareness on social issues and should not be used merely as a tool to carry cheap content.
While several people have called me to complain about the cheap content soon after the film was released, I get to understand that the earlier film of this producer and the director was also on such lines.
That film’s success seems to have emboldened them to make one more film in that genre. If this too turns out to be a success, they will come out with one more. There is the danger of others following them, thereby placing the whole society at risk.”
“Cinema is a beautiful and powerful art form. How could the Censor Board clear this picture?” he said and demaned the Tamil Nadu government to ban the film.
On Tuesday, LGBT activists headed by journalist Apsara Reddy condemned the film for its ‘insensitive and crude humour targetting the community’.
