Remake season back in Kollywood – F’day Spl. Article by Naveen

Tamil film industry has always remade successful and good movies from other languages and a string of such projects are in the pipeline now.
According to trade analysts, remakes are safe bets, but at the same time, the original scripts need to be infused with Tamil flavour to suit the tastes of the audience here. “The success or failure of remake flicks mainly lies in this factor,” they opine.
Jyothika and director Radha Mohan, after the memorable ‘Mozhi’, have come together for a new project,
which will be a remake of Hindi flick ‘Tumhari Sulu’.
With Jyothika playing a radio jockey in this film, the movie has been titled as ‘Kaattrin Mozhi…’,
the opening words of a chartbuster song in ‘Mozhi’.
Says G Dhananjayan, the movie’s producer, “This title seemed perfect in every way. So we have decided
to go ahead with it.” In the movie, Vidya played the role of an innocent yet mischievous RJ Sulu and went on to win several awards.
Director Bala, who gave break to Vikram with ‘Sethu’, is now set to repeat the magic for the latter’s son Dhruv. The ace filmmaker is wielding the megaphone for ‘Varma’, a film which will mark the acting debut of Dhruv.
Produced by Mukesh R Mehta’s E4Entertainment, the film is a remake of Telugu super hit flick ‘Arjun
Reddy’. Journalist-turned-filmmaker Raju Murugan has penned the dialogues of ‘Varma’.
It is learnt that a grand function is being launched in Chennai to officially launch Dhruv in the presence of
top celebrities in the industry.
The movie is about a medical surgeon who falls for his college junior. He turns to alcohol post break-up
and the rest is about how he redeems himself.
Samantha is playing the role of an investigative journalist in the Tamil-Telugu remake of Kannada hit ‘U-Turn’.
Story of the movie is about an investigation led by a female journalist relating to an accident-prone
junction where people die when they try to violate traffic rules.
While Aadhi of ‘Eeram’ and ‘Maragadha Nanayam’ fame will play a police officer, Rahul Ravindran will play Samantha’s boyfriend. Pawan Kumar, who had directed the original, will be wielding the megaphone for the remake as well.
Samantha tweeted recently: “2018 Everything I want !! Shoot begins in Feb for @pawanfilms #Uturn #Tamil and #Telugu , produced by Srinivasaa silver screen. Thankyou always for your support.”
Expectations are running high on Arvind Swamy-starrer ‘Bhaskar Oru Rascal’, which is set to hit the screens soon.
A comedy drama film written and directed by Siddique, the movie is a remake of his own Malayalam film ‘Bhaskar the Rascal’ (2015).
The film features Arvind Swamy and Amala Paul in the lead roles, while Baby Nainika play supporting role. The shoot of the movie began in Kochi during early April 2017.
