Even as the police booked him under multiple sections for his Facebook post on women journalists and amid a buzz that he might be arrested, the whereabouts of actor-politician S Ve Shekher became a guessing game on Sunday.
Later in the day, he told a Tamil news channel he had not gone underground and was only away in Bengaluru on some private work. He would be back at Chennai in three days.
Meanwhile, it is said that anticipatory bail petition would be filed by Shekher’s counsel today in the Madras high court to prevent his arrest.
Protests were staged by journalists and police complaints were filed against the deragatory post titled ‘Madurai University, Governor and the Virgin Cheeks of a Girl’, which alleged that more sexual abuses happen in media houses than in universities.
“A woman cannot become a reporter or news reader without sleeping with bigwigs. This ugly truth has come out through the complaints raised recently. These are the **** women who have come out to question the governor,” it said. Shekher had sought an apology and deleted the post.
