A R Rahmah has once again brought pride to Tamil Nadu in general and Kollywood in precise by winning two national awards.
“It was great receiving the news of these two National Awards for Kaatru Veliyidai songs and BGM of Mom. I’m really moved, when I first won National Award for Roja, everybody said ‘Isn’t it too early for you?’ It’s never too early,” he said.
“I thank National Award juries, my team, producers, directors, all the heroes, and heroines. Especially for Sridevi ji for coming all the way and approached me for Mom. I always felt that it’s a universal movie,” he said further.
On his mentor Mani Ratnam, he said, “Working with Mani Ratnam is always a pleasure. He is an umbrella and reservoir of extraordinary creative input and vision. You can throw any crazy idea at him, he will make it organic and make it usable. Very few directors understand music like him, I can say that because have won three National Awards with him. He is a great team player and doesn’t exert his opinions, he will leave it free so the trust make you nervous and you will work hard. I’m blessed to work with Mani Ratnam ji again and again”.
Talking about ‘Mom’, the ‘Mozart of Madras’, said, “Rahman said “In the time of need, where you need a movie which would express the agony, pain, and vision for the victims. I think Mom is the perfect movie. Even though she is no more, her spirit is with us. Today, we miss her kindness, extraordinary beauty, and a great human being. Ravi is also a great talent who has a great vision. Thank you again to the whole team of Mom.”
