We had recently reported that ‘Mercury’, a film by Karthik Subbaraj with Prabhudeva in the lead role, would hit the screens despite the strike by Tamil Film Producers Council.
Karthik’s excuse was that only new Tamil films were stopped from getting released. “Mercury has no dialogues at all. Hence, it can be considered a Telugu film or a Hindi film,” sources close to him said.
And now, this decision has met with stiff opposition. Many producers, including Hitesh Jhabak, who has openly slammed Karthik on Twitter, are unhappy with the development.
However, Karthik is firm at his decision and said, “With utmost respect to the protests and bandh, we are postponing the trailer release of #Mercury that was supposed to happen today.
However, this film is a Silent film and having a huge release globally on 13th April. And cinema being a bread-winning profession for hundreds of our team members who have put in their sweat n blood into this film, we are in a situation to move on towards the release of the film.
Hence the trailer will be released in a day or two. Looking for all your support as always”.
