With collections severely getting affected due to no new releases because of a strike by Tamil Film Producers Council, theaters are working out a novel method.
According to sources, some theatres in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu are planning to screen IPL cricket matches in their screens, to pull crowds and make revenues.
The police and government authorities have already been approached seeking permission for the move. “Permission is most likely to be given, but with some rules and regulations,” sources said.
Indian Premier League, shortly IPL, is going to start soon. This year marks the comeback of Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which was banned a few years ago for match fixing allegations.
