Veteran director CV Rajendran passed away on Sunday morning at a private hospital in Chennai after prolonged illness. He was 81.
He had worked with top stars including Sivaji Ganesan, Jaishankar, Rajinikanth and Kamal Hassan, among others. His first directorial was in 1967 with the ‘Anubavam Pudhumai’ starring Muthuraman.
Brother of legendary director Sridhar, he initially assisted him. Rajendran is survived by wife, son and daughter. His son is on the way from the United States to attend Rajendran’s last rites.
Rajendran had made Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi films, and some of his works include ‘Galatta Kalyanam’, ‘Sumathi En Sundari’, ‘Ponnunjal’ and ‘Sivakamiyin Selvan’.
Expressing condolences, producer G Dhananjayan tweeted, “Very sad to know the passing away of one of the finest Directors #CVRajendran sir. May his soul rest in peace …he directed many popular films with top Actors.”
