Shriya Saran is the latest newly-married in film industry. She recently entered wedlock with her Russian boyfriend Andrei Koscheev in Mumbai.
A national-level tennis player and entrepreneur, Andrei runs a restaurant chain in Moscow. Interestingly, Shriya is not the only one in south Indian cinema to pick her partner from beyond borders. Here is a look at some others who sailed/are sailing in the same boat.
Shruti Haasan-Michael Corsale
Though there is no official confirmation yet, it is widely rumoured that Shruti Haasan is currently dating London-based theatre artiste Michael Corsale.
It may be recalled that the two recently attended he wedding of Aadhav Kannadasan and Vinodhnie, in which Shruti’s father Kamal Haasan too was present and exchanged pleasantries with Corsale.
Interestingly, while Shruti was wearing a saree at the event, Corsale was seen in dhoti and traditional white shirt.
Taapsee Pannu-Mathias Boe
Taapsee Pannu is said to be dating badminton player Mathias Boe. According to sources, the ‘Aadukalam’ actress is seeing the Danish badminton player and Olympic Silver medallist for four years now.
She had said that she is extremely proud of her relationship status and happy with the person she’s with.
Recently, Taapsee and Mathias took off to Goa to ring in the holidays together and the buzz is that Taapsee’s sister Shagun shares a close friendship with Mathias.
Pawan Kalyan-Anna Lezhneva
Pawan Kalyan, the ‘Power Star’ of Tollywood, married Anna Lezhneva, a Russian national, in 2013. This is the third marriage of Pawan and the couple recently welcomed their son, who was later named Mark Shankar Pawanovich.
Pawan met Anna in 2011 while shooting for ‘Teen Maar’. While Pawan was the male lead in the movie, Anna played a small character in it.
According to reports, both fell in love on the sets and moved in together. After Anna started living with Pawan, she had a complete makeover. She took to wearing only cotton saris and started sporting bindis.
Ileana D’Cruz sprang a surprise late last year when she posted a picture of her with the Christmas tree and captioned it: “My favourite time of the year. #christmastime #happyholidays #home #love #family Photo by hubby @andrewkneebonephotography.”
Ileana’s fans got excited enough after noticing the caption and they started wondering if Ileana secretly
married Andrew, a photographer from Australia.
Some fans posted comments such as “Married coz you mentioned Andrew Kneebone as your “Hubby” and “Happy married life”.
Anu Haasan-Graham
Actress and TV presenter Anu Hasan married her long-time British boyfriend Graham in 2011. Graham is an investment banker based in London and Anu met him through a music website and as their friendship developed, love blossomed.
At the time of her marriage, Anu had said she was single for five years after her arduous divorce from her first marriage and that only after meeting Graham did she even think of getting committed again.
She also said that she took her time to make her decision after Graham proposed and that her mother supported her all the while.
Radikaa-Richard Hardy
During early 1990s, Radikaa married a British man Richard Hardy, with whom she had her first child Rayane. But that marriage ended in 1992, and according to reports, Hardy is no more now.
Radikaa then entered wedlock with Sarathkumar and the couple are now happily living. They have a son called Rahul Sarath.
