Tamil activist and editor of ‘Puthiya Parvai’, M Natarajan, who is the husband of expelled AIADMK leader V K Sasikala, died at a hospital in Chennai in the early hours of today.
He was 76 and is survived by wife Sasikala and relatives. “It is with profound grief and sorrow that we announce the sad demise of Mr. Natarajan Maruthappa at 1.35 am today (20.3.2018),” said a statement from Gleneagles Global Health City, where he was admitted to with chest congestion on Saturday night.
“Every possible clinical attempt was made to sustain his revival. However, despite our best efforts he was unable to recover,” it added.
Late last year, he underwent multiple organ transplant at the same hospital. At that time, Sasikala obtained parole for five days and visited him.
Today too, she is expected to come out on parole from the Parapana Agrahara jail in Bengaluru. Natarajan’s mortal remains will be taken to his native in Thanjavur district where last rites will be performed.
