Tollywood busy with biopics Friday Spl. Article by Naveen

Not just one or two, but a string of biopics are currently in the making in Telugu cinema, popularly Tollywood. Lives of popular personalities from politics and tinsel towns are being made as films.
Industry veterans say biopics are the best way to capture the good work of the veterans and show it to the present-day audience. At the same time, there is also a concern that things should be presented in a neutral manner. Here is a look at some of the biopics in the making.
‘Mahanati’, being made simultaneously in Tamil as ‘Nadigaiyar Thilakam’, is based on the life of veteran actress Savitri.
Starring Keerthy Suresh, Dulquer Salmaan, Anushka Shetty and Samantha Akkineni in the lead roles, the film is directed by Nag Ashwin. Produced by Vyjayanthi Movies, it has music by Mickey J Meyer.
Explaining why he chose to turn Savitri’s career into a film script, the director stated “from a penniless origin to the first female superstar, her life is quite a story” and that it was a “moment in time where it has been long enough that film legends have left us” and “that we will have to revisit them and understand why they are legends”.
Balakrishna is set to play the lead role in in the biopic of his legendary father — actor-turned-politician
NT Rama Rao, the former chief minister of Andhra Pradesh.
A special styling team has been flown in from Hollywood for the sole purpose of styling Balakrishna. The movie is directed by Teja.
The first look of the movie was released recently, the 22nd death anniversary of NTR. The poster shows NTR standing atop a vehicle, and surrounded by the masses.
Produced by Balakrishna, Sai Korrapati and Vishnu Induri, the movie has MM Keeravani providing the music.
A biopic is being planned on former Andhra Pradesh chief minister and Congress leader Y S Rajasekhara Reddy. To be directed by  Mahi Raghav, the movie is said to be a multi-lingual.
According to sources, it will be based on the important events in YSR’s life between 1999 and 2004. “The three month-long Padayathra by YSR will be highlighted,” sources added.
While Nayanthara is likely to play the role of Vijayamma, wife of the late leader, other details are being worked out.
The film, a biopic on freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narsimha Reddy, marks the return of Chiranjeevi to silver screen after a break.
It has a huge star cast and Amitabh Bachchan will reportedly play a brief yet crucial role. The motion poster of ‘Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy’ was unveiled to mark the birthday of Chiranjeevi and the cast details of the movie were revealed.
Nayanthara, Kiccha Sundeep, Vijay Sethupathi and Jagapathy Babu play key roles in this flick. Directed by Surender Reddy, the film is bankrolled by Ram Charan’s home production banner Konidela Production Company.
