Amala Paul appeared before the economic offenses wing (EOW) of the crime branch in Kochi, with relation to the tax evasion row for registering a car in Puducherry.
She was reportedly arrested on Sunday in for buying the luxury car by producing forged documents. However, the actress was immediately released on conditional bail but she must co-operate for the investigation when summoned, it is learnt.
However, some other reports quoted officials as saying: “She came along with a lawyer though we did not record her arrest. A decision regarding recording her arrest will be made only after a detailed examination of her statements.”
During interrogation, the ‘Mynaa’ and ‘Thalaivaa’ actress claimed that she has property in Puducherry and bought the car only by following the legal procedures.
She added that the vehicle was registered at the address of the rented house in Puducherry and the vehicle is used in Puducherry, Tamil Nadu, and Bengaluru mainly.
